"Rotary brings together a global network of volunteer leaders who dedicate their time and talent to tackle the world's most pressing humanitarian challenges. Rotary connects 1.2 million members from more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Their work impacts lives at both the local and international levels." - Rotary International.

The Frankfort Rotary Club is celebrating 100 years in 2024!  Join us on Thursday, September 12th at 6 pm at The Garden Theater, 301 Main St, Frankfort, MI 49635, as we take the Benzonia Academy Lecture Series on the road in September to hear some of the stories that have been dug up about the noble deeds of Frankfort Rotarians over the last 100 years.

Presenters: Jay Peregrine & Tim Foster

Born and raised in Oak Park, Illinois, Jay is a third-generation Crystal Laker who is now retired and living full-time in Frankfort. After college (Duke University), he settled in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he enjoyed a career in I.T. and business administration. Later, he returned to Chicago to help manage a not-for-profit.  An amateur history buff and avid storyteller, Jay's involvement with Frankfort Rotary Club ( including President of the Club in 2021-2022) and his love of storytelling led him to offer to present a history of the club on its 100th anniversary in 2024.

A native of Evanston, IL., Tim Foster now resides in Frankfort. He has a lifelong interest in the Great Lakes. He is on the board of the S.S. City of Milwaukee National Historic Landmark in Manistee and the Benzie Area Historical Museum. He enjoys building scale models and spending time outdoors.

This presentation, part of the Benzie Area Historical Society's Benzonia Academy Lecture Series, is open to all. It is held on the second Thursday of each month; admission is by donation, making it accessible to everyone. We recommend a donation of $ 5, but any amount is appreciated.
