1st annual Distillery Derby Party Mixes Fun and Fundraising for Benzie Zonta Club
The Kentucky Derby is galloping into our area with a festive celebration at Iron Fish Distillery which will double as a fundraiser for the Benzie Area Zonta Club.
Billed as “Hats & Horses,” the ticketed event is set for 5 to 8:30 pm May 6, and will feature a delicious Southern food buffet, two Iron Fish craft cocktails, live music by Turbo Pup, a Derby hat and bow tie contest with prizes and an opportunity to wager on the horse race and win cash.
In addition, the Zonta fundraiser will include a silent auction featuring a variety of items including a gift certificate from Moore Mechanical and a twilight charter fishing trip aboard “Nibbles” with Captain Wes Newberry.
“We love the opportunity to host a really special event that can give’s Zonta a chance to raise awareness as well as funds to support their work at the same time,” said Sarah Anderson, partner at Iron Fish Distillery. “This is a wonderful community and we want to do our part in helping it to continue to thrive.”
“Hats & Horses” is also a great time for attendees to get creative with Derby hats and bow ties that demonstrate just how much they love to play and win. “The wilder, the better,” Anderson said. “We can’t wait to see them!”
Julie Bretzke, 2nd Vice President and Fundraising Chair for the Benzie Area Zonta Club, is looking forward to putting the “fun” into fundraising for her organization. “We are very grateful to Iron Fish for being willing to let us be a part of this event. Our fundraisers support Benzie Central and Frankfort High School scholarships, adult women's scholarships, and mastectomy pillows for Munson Medical Center, as well as local community agencies that share our mission.”
