Mills Community House Association and the Benzie County Players are pleased to present The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robison. This collaborative effort casts local community members and youth to bring you this hilarious contemporary classic. Directed by Rachel Higgins, stage managed by Alexandra Herryman, and with set design by Wendy Kalush, Robinson?s lighthearted comedy will run for two performances November 30th at 6:00 and December 1st at 2:00.
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is based on Robinson's best selling 1972 novel of the same name and was adapted for the stage by Robinson in 1982. Her engaging story drops us into a church struggling to put on their annual Christmas pageant after the director is hospitalized with a broken leg. In her absence the Herdmans, probably the worst kids in town, end up in the title roles and cause chaos in the rehearsal process. But will it end in disaster, or the most original Christmas pageant this small town has ever seen? Told through the eyes of a teen narrator and full of endearing familiar moments, this story gets the holiday season off to a great start.
Performances will be free and open to the public but a suggested $10 donation is appreciated to help cover costs incurred.
