Name: Trail Maintenance Day at Arcadia Dunes - 6.18.19
Date: June 18, 2019
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM EDT
Event Description:
Help us give the Dry Hill mountain bike trail some TLC! Originally designed by the International Mountain Bike Association and built by our staff and volunteers, this beloved 10 mile loop at Arcadia Dunes: The C.S. Mott Nature Preserve is due for a facelift. Each week we will tackle new problem areas ranging from erosion to unsustainable routes and blind corners.
The Basics: GTRLC will supply gloves, tools, water and snack bars. We will teach you everything you need to know about tool use, safety, trail building and maintenance, no prior experience necessary! This will be a strenuous event with participants hiking up to 4 miles and swinging hefty trail tools. What will volunteers be doing: Re-grading the trail bed with hand tools. Building new sections of trail as re-routes around bad sections. Hauling and installing stone and gravel in certain sections of the trail. Trimming vegetation to open sight lines. What should you bring? Dress for the weather! Always check the forecast in advance. Sturdy, close toed shoes that can handle some mud. Bring a re-usable water bottle and some snacks. Sunscreen and bug spray for your safety and comfort.  Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us!
