Join us for Summer Fun in the Benzie Sun – and a Special Event!
We’ve been busy sprucing up the Museum, creating fun and engaging exhibits and events, and are excited to share the interesting, quirky and amazing history of Benzie with you and your summer guests.
A SPECIAL INVITATION FOR CHAMBER MEMBERS!
W.H. Sharp Photographic Exhibition: Frankfort’s most well-known professional photographer, W.H. Sharp (1897-1944), is featured in this special exhibit. We are honored to host an opening reception on Thursday, June 21, 4:00-6:00 p.m. that will be attended by Mr. Sharp’s grandchildren and other family members. We hope you will join us!
SUMMER EXHIBITS AND HOURS:
The golf clubs, tennis racquets, and bathing suits are out and ready for summer fun, and we invite you to enjoy the following interesting and engaging exhibits and activities:
Going, Going, Gone: A nostalgic look at fading history with photos of Benzie Area high school buildings, most no longer standing, plus old yearbooks, sports trophies, lettermen sweaters, and composite graduate photos.
Summer Fun in the Benzie Sun: What did people do during the summer before jet skis, skateboards, SUPS, smart phones and drones? Check out this exhibit of vintage swimming costumes, croquet, tennis and golf equipment all highlighted by a 1904 Old Town Sailing canoe.
Magical History Bus Returns! Our entertaining docents are excited to offer you the following fun, interesting and engaging road trips: The Betsie Bay Tour includes a visit to our museum with summer exhibits and then hits the road to see Elberta, Frankfort (includes a walking tour!), Benzonia and Beulah (Fridays at 2:00) and The Heart of Benzie Tour begins with a visit to the Almira Township Historical Museum in Lake Ann and goes on to Honor and the Drake School (Saturdays at 1:00). Tours start June 15.
Museum Summer Hours (Starting Sunday, June 3 through August 31):
Tuesday-Saturday: 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Sunday: 1:00-5:00 p.m.
