News Release: FIRST MEDICAL CLINIC IN TRAVERSE CITY TO GO SOLAR
FIRST MEDICAL CLINIC IN TRAVERSE CITY TO GO SOLAR
In 2016 Traverse City and its commissioners adopted a resolution to set a goal to become a 100% renewable city by 2020. This is an ambitious goal and we are pleased to announce that a Medical Clinic on Garfield has just committed to help with this goal. The Clinic has now completed the installation of a roof top solar array.
The Clinic is owned and operated by Dr. Gary Ruoff. The 8KW installation will lower the clinics electric bills by almost 50% and will assist Dr. Ruoff and his staff in reaching their goals, while at the same time provides support for Mayor Carruthers and the city commission’s goal of 100%.
The Project was designed and engineered by CBS Solar engineer Mr. Devon O’Shea and is barely visible to the passersby. If you look very close you can see part of the solar array on the roof of the clinic. The solar installation is a little bit larger than most homes would use but will make a sizeable dent in the electrical consumption of the Medical Clinic.
The project is being NET METERED in cooperation with Traverse Light & Power (TCLP) and is being closely monitored with a laptop monitoring system provided with the project. Dr. Ruoff stated that “This is a great opportunity for our community and its businesses to assist Traverse City in it sustainable goals and lead by example.” “We are pleased and excited with the systems performance so far and look forward to the immediate reduction in our electric costs.”
