West Shore Bank Announces New Art Exhibit at Frankfort Office starting September 26

West Shore Bank’s Frankfort office is pleased to announce the exhibition of a special collection of artwork by Susana Hubbard Green and Karen Keranen at their Frankfort office beginning Tuesday, September 26. The public is invited to a special “Meet the Artist” reception on Friday, October 6, from 3 to 5 pm at the West Shore Bank Frankfort Office. The exhibit will be on display through January 17, 2018.
Susana Hubbard Green was born in Ann Arbor and spent all of her summers on the Platte River, where she now resides. She studied painting at Ringling College of Art & Design (FL), Art Students League (NY), and UCLA (CA). She taught fine arts to children in California and to adults at the Crystal Lake Art Center in Frankfort, MI. Her work has been seen in numerous group shows, including Betsie Bay Furniture and Oliver Art Center, as well as solo shows at Glen Arbor Art Association and L’Chayim. Her entry in the 2007 Oliver juried show won an award. Susana now concentrates on plein air pastels of the local landscape, which she finds endlessly inspiring.
Karen Keranen lives on M22 in Sleeping Bear National Park with her husband, Mel. She has also lived in the Porcupine Mountains in Upper Michigan. She received a teaching degree from Northern Michigan University and a Masters at Michigan State University. Teaching is in her blood and she has continued to teach as an alpine skiing certified instructor and alcohol ink art classes at the Elizabeth Lane Oliver Art Center in Frankfort, MI. Karen says, “My art continually changes as does the seasons and surroundings. Right now my interest in painting is working with alcohol ink on tiles and yupa paper. The ink colors are so fascinating with their richness of such brilliant colors.” Included in the exhibit will be glass pictures which also compliment the alcohol ink because of the vibrant, bright, colors that are reflected when light shines through the glass.
